Why The Miami Heat Do The Deal
For all of the praise we just heaped on Kyle Lowry, he struggled mightily in these past playoffs. He finished the Miami Heat’s run with averages of 7.8 points and 4.2 assists per game.
Say what you will about Kyrie Irving, but he’d never come up so short in a playoff run. At least, not until he’s Kyle Lowry’s age.
Of course, it’s not Lowry the Heat will primarily miss following this deal. It’s Herro. With that said, if Irving shows up for work, this trade should still make the Heat better.
After all, Herro may have star potential. Kyrie Irving was the second most important player on a team that won the NBA championship. It’s unlikely that anyone will ever speculate that Herro might be the best ball-handler in NBA history.
