Brooklyn Nets owner Joe Tsai says he’d be more proud to own a play-in team that wants to fight hard than a group talented-yet-difficult stars. This trade has him putting his money where his mouth is.
We know Kyle Lowry will play hard. This man takes charges in his dreams. Lowry is a player that could have been a regular starter but worked hard enough to be a star in the NBA.
Herro’s work ethic isn’t as renowned, but at least he hasn’t given us a reason to question it. Furthermore, he’s spent years incubating in the much-celebrated Miami Heat culture. At the very least, he’ll be on the floor if he’s physically able to be.
If Tsai is firm enough in his convictions, he’ll make this deal. He may prefer more draft capital, but for a proposition as risky as Irving, the Heat likely won’t part with more than this.
