The Nets have no incentive to take on Russell Westbrook. Yes, his contract is expiring. So is Irving’s. Meanwhile, Irving’s antics may have depreciated his trade value, but so have Westbrook’s on-court struggles.
If the Lakers hope to flip Westbrook (and, presumably, a first-round pick) for Irving, it will have to be in a three-team deal.
A straight swap between these sides would have to land Davis in Brooklyn. Parting with him will sting for the Lakers. At the same time, injuries have likely sunk the talented big man’s value as well.

It raises some interesting questions. Talent aside, who would you rather have? A player who rarely gets hurt whose off-court interests seem to routinely keep him, well, off the court? Or, a considerable injury risk who will suit up when he’s healthy?
