Shaedon Sharpe Will Take Small Dive
Shortly after the conclusion of the 2021-22 NCAA Men’s Basketball season, many mock drafts and big boards came out that established Shaedon Sharpe as a top-tier prospect in the 2022 draft class, just a notch below the three forwards in Smith Jr., Holmgren, and Banchero.
Now, several months and an entire pre-draft process later, Sharpe’s stock has seemingly taken a significant hit.
It started when he measured closer to a guard than a forward in today’s NBA. At 6’5 in shoes with a 6’11 wingspan and 198-lbs on his frame, Sharpe could still be an impactful wing defender if he adds strength and discipline, but even in a best case scenario, he’ll simply be a shade too small to withstand the slashing of a LeBron James-type forward.
His performance, or lack thereof, at the draft combine also contributed to his draft stock’s plummet. After refusing to participate in scrimmages, there’s simply a glaring void of tape on the young guard’s play. In team interviews, his lack of NBA IQ and love for the game have also been called into question.

With his talent still largely a mystery and all of the other knocks on him so far, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Sharpe fall past the Trail Blazers at seven. There’s even a chance that he fall out of the top-10 altogether if the dominos fall in just the right way.
