Knicks Re-Sign Mitchell Robinson
With the Knicks slotted to select 10th in the upcoming draft, some have them pegged to select a big man. Jalen Duren, if he’s on the board, could be especially tempting.
On the flip side, why draft what you already have? The 24-year-old Mitchell Robinson is already on this roster. He has the benefit of their corporate knowledge and familiarity with their system.
Selecting a big man in the draft would be akin to starting over for no reason. The Knick can make better use of their assets by selecting a wing or a guard. Jeremy Sochan, A.J. Griffin and others appear likely to be on the board when the Knicks’ number is called.
They should take one of them and offer Robinson a contract in Restricted Free Agency. He’s already a high-end rim protector, and at 24, he’s got ample room to improve.
