With the 2022 NBA Draft only a few days away, trade rumors are beginning to heat up as teams prepare trade offers to move up and down the board. One of the teams that could make a move includes the Indiana Pacers.
There have been some rumors that the Pacers are a team with their eyes on Purdue guard Jaden Ivey. He has also spoken glowingly about landing with the franchise as it would mean that he gets to stay close to home.
As a rebuilding team, it is fair to wonder if they would be willing to trade assets to move up the board, even if it is just a spot or two. But, there is a chance that Indiana adds even more draft capital ahead of the draft, giving them the ammunition to move up should they want to.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Pacers are still engaged in trade talks centered around two of the remaining veterans on the team; center Myles Turner and guard Malcolm Brogdon. The Washington Wizards and New York Knicks are the two teams they are having discussions with.

Armed with the No. 10 and 11 picks in the draft respectively, that could be enough to get the Pacers to the negotiating table if they are dead set on continuing their rebuild. Both teams also have some intriguing young players that Indiana could have some interest in.
For Washington, they can offer Rui Hachimura or Deni Avdija as part of a trade package. The Knicks have Cam Reddish, Obi Toppin, Quentin Grimes and Immanuel Quickly that the Pacers could have interest in. However, if any of them are going to be on the move, especially Toppin or Quickley, it will likely be in a bigger blockbuster deal.

There aren’t two teams in the NBA that need point guard help more than the Washington Wizards and New York Knicks, so it makes sense that they are engaged in trade talks for Brogdon. He would help both teams, but his injury concerns of his are legitimate as he has missed at least 16 games in five consecutive seasons, including 46 last season.
