Knicks Acquire Fringe Star Guard
The New York Knicks have been tied to too many star(ish) guards to predict any differently. Look for them to land one of them this summer.
They do have a vacancy in their rotation. Derrick Rose is still a quality player, but he ought to be a reserve by 2022. The same goes doubly for Evan Fournier.
Immanuel Quickley has shown promise. Still, it’s doubtful that he’s ready for a featured role. Otherwise, no guard on this Knicks roster merits mention.
Meanwhile, there will be options on the open market this summer. Collin Sexton is due for Restricted Free Agency, as is Jalen Brunson. John Wall and Russell Westbrook are both buyout candidates.

The Knicks will have their eyes on bigger prizes. They’re likely to court Zach LaVine, or hope for a trade request from one of Damian Lillard or Bradley Beal. We expect them to strike out on those ambitious targets. Still, they’ll likely be happy to settle for one of the lesser stars who should be available.
