The Los Angeles Lakers should be looking for some help on the perimeter this NBA offseason. They were an underachieving 3-point shooting team and with a trio consisting of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook, that’s a recipe for disaster.
It is clear that the Lakers prioritized big names over depth, defense, and three-point shooting. Russell Westbrook was acquired in a blockbuster deal but this did not translate to team success. LeBron James averaged 30.3 points per game this season but did not have much help.
Anthony Davis continued to struggle with injuries while Westbrook could not get comfortable in Los Angeles. Put all of this together and it leads to a hyped Lakers squad missing out on the postseason altogether. Now, changes are needed.
The Toronto Raptors could also be looking to shake things up. The Raptors were able to find their way back to the playoffs but were eliminated in the first round by the Philadelphia 76ers. Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam would be blockbuster pieces, but the Raptors could have other moves in mind.
