Making the Case: Toronto Raptors
Gary Trent Jr. has fit in well with the Toronto Raptors since coming over. Also, they seem to have won the trade with the Portland Trail Blazers since Norman Powell is now in Los Angeles with the Clippers.
This is why it would be an interesting trade but it all depends on the direction the Raptors want to go. Masai Ujiri is used to building a team and reshaping the team’s financial situation.
Trent Jr. has two years remaining on his deal and the Raptors don’t necessarily have reason to shop him. Instead, they could capitalize on an opportunity to add some assets.
Let’s face it, there is little reason to attribute trade value to either Talen Horton-Tucker or Kendrick at this point. The appeal would be acquiring one of the Lakers’ future first-round picks knowing they have one of the bleakest long-term outlooks in the NBA.
