Mark Jackson – Los Angeles Lakers

It seems as if Mark Jackson’s hiatus from coaching in the NBA could be coming to an end this offseason. He has not had a head coaching job since 2014 when he was fired after three seasons of coaching the Golden State Warriors.

There has been a lot said about Jackson as to why he hasn’t gotten another opportunity but he is certainly qualified. He helped turn the Warriors around, going 121-109 in the regular season and 9-10 in the postseason.

His motivation abilities were lauded in Golden State and he had solid defensive principles. However, his offensive schemes were at times underwhelming. But, he deserves some credit for getting the ball rolling in Golden State that Steve Kerr has picked up and run with.

Jackson is one of the finalists for the Sacramento Kings head coaching job, but if LeBron James comes calling, it will be hard to turn that job down. James reportedly is enthused about the possibility of Jackson getting the Lakers’ job. Having the backing of James is always a good thing.
