Mike D’Antoni – Charlotte Hornets
Mike D’Antoni has an extensive head coaching career, with his last stint ending in 2020 with the Houston Rockets. He was head coach there for four seasons before stepping down. He compiled a record of 217-101, as he found more success there than with the Phoenix Suns.
D’Antoni went 28-23 in the postseason with the Rockets, which also topped his success with the Suns. In five seasons in The Valley, D’Antoni went 253-136 in the regular season and 26-25 in the postseason.
Sandwiched in between those stints were two forgettable tenures with the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers. D’Antoni lasted just about 3.5 seasons with the Knicks before being fired by Mike Woodson, who had the most success of any coach in New York since Jeff Van Gundy. His Lakers tenure lasted two seasons.
In this cycle, the Charlotte Hornets would present the best landing spot for D’Antonio. He has done excellent work with point guards throughout his career, coaxing career seasons out of the Chris Duhon, overseeing MVPs for Steve Nash, and helping James Harden take his game to another level.

Imagine what he could do with a player such as LaMelo Ball? While not as accomplished as those players or Chris Paul, Ball has arguably the best raw talent out of the bunch. It would be a lot of fun watching him lead a D’Antoni offense.
