Steve Clifford – Remain With Nets
Another finalist for the Sacramento Kings’ head coaching job is Steve Clifford. He made the final round of interviews and has a real chance at becoming their next head coach. However, Clifford would likely be best sitting out this round of hires and remaining in his role with the Nets.
If things go south with Steve Nash, he could potentially be named an interim head coach for a team that should have Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving on it. That is a better situation to be in than coaching for another downtrodden franchise such as the Sacramento Kings.
Clifford’s two head coaching jobs thus far in his career have been with the Charlotte Bobcats/Charlotte Hornets and Orlando Magic.
He has under a .500 record in his career, going 196-214 with Charlotte in five seasons. With the Magic in three seasons, Clifford went 96-131. He is 5-16 in his career in the postseason.

Clifford likely doesn’t have many head coaching opportunities left, so waiting until a little better opportunity presents itself is the best course of action. He was the most sought-after assistant this year and would be again if he doesn’t continue his consulting role with the Nets.
