Myles Turner

Another Indiana Pacer the Los Angeles Lakers Lakers should have their eyes on is Myles Turner. While still only 26-years-old, he does match the team’s new timeline. Indiana’s youth movement could lead to Turner being available this offseason.

Throughout his career, Anthony Davis has always preferred to play alongside another big in the frontcourt. Pairing him with Turner would give the Lakers one of the best big-man defensive combos in the entire league. Adding him would allow Davis to be a roamer on defense, similar to how the Milwaukee Bucks use Giannis Antetokounmpo.

A move of this sort gives the Lakers the best of both worlds. They can pair Davis with a big who can anchor the defense and don’t have to sacrifice spacing. Over the last few years, Turner has grown his offensive game.

He might not be lights-out from deep, but Turner turned himself into a respectable three-point shooter. This season, he is connecting on 33.3% of his attempts on decent volume.

While Turner’s numbers are slightly below league average, it is enough for the Lakers’ All-Stars to operate in the two-man game without having a big parked around the rim.

Of all these players, Turner has the best contract for the Lakers to acquire. His $17.5 million salary is reasonable to match and is expiring after next season. This gives LA some flexibility in the long term.
