3 Players For Lakers To Target In Anthony Davis Trade Talks

Anthony Davis, Los Angeles Lakers, NBA Trade Rumors
NBA Analysis Network

The Los Angeles Lakers have sorely underachieved this NBA season. With the chances of them even making the play-in tournament far from a guarantee, the roster could look significantly different next season.

It’s unlikely the Lakers will look to trade Anthony Davis during the upcoming offseason. The investment was massive to acquire him from the New Orleans Pelicans, and he is viewed as a fulcrum of their post-LeBron James roster construction.

If the Lakers do shift course with their plans for Davis, there would be no shortage of interested suitors. If the options are limited for making meaningful changes to the roster around LeBron James, perhaps this could be at least worth the discussion?

Davis has struggled to stay healthy, and when he’s available, there’s a strange change of identity. He seems to be reluctant to play the five spot, so going from having LeBron James at the five at times to playing two bigs simultaneously is a radical shift.

If Davis were to be dealt, the short-term focus would likely shift to LeBron James and Russell Westbrook as the focuses. There are a few ideal types of skill-sets the Lakers would need to land in return for Davis with perimeter shooting and defensive impact being among them.

If the Los Angeles Lakers decided that trading Anthony Davis would be a beneficial outcome, here are three trade targets they should keep an eye on.
