Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks are a really strong defensive team in the Western Conference and are comfortably in the playoff picture, but their upside outside of Luka Doncic is limited.

Offensively, Dallas tends to struggle at times to find consistent scoring outside of Doncic and the Mavericks currently rank 24th in the league as a team in three-point shooting percentage. 

Buddy Hield, being a career 39.7% three-point shooter, offers a ton of upside for the Mavericks, especially on the wing with another sharpshooter in Tim Hardaway Jr. 

Finding a way to trade for Hield’s contract could be tough for the Dallas Mavericks to do, especially since they would like to keep Jalen Brunson in free agency, but they have numerous contracts on their roster that they would like to potentially get out of.

Davis Bertans will be a trade candidate on Dallas’ roster in the offseason, as will Dwight Powell and possibly even Reggie Bullock. All three players present a means to the Mavericks freeing up enough space to pursue a player like Buddy Hield. 

Getting out of unwanted contracts in the offseason and upgrading to an impactful offensive talent on the wing could make a lot of sense for the Dallas Mavericks.
