Buddy Hield started his career with the New Orleans Pelicans and going back to New Orleans in the offseason could make a lot of sense. 

The Pelicans currently rank 27th in the league in three-point shooting this season and with Zion Williamson expected to return for the 2022-23 season, the only thing this team would be missing is perimeter-oriented threats. 

With CJ McCollum, Brandon Ingram, and Zion Williamson, the New Orleans Pelicans have a sturdy “Big 3” in place and now, all they need to do is continue to find ways to upgrade their bench, which currently ranks 20th in the league in scoring this season. 

Proving to be a force either in or out of the starting lineup over the years, Buddy Hield knows his role as a secondary talent and scorer in this league, which is why he could be an impactful addition for the Pelicans in the offseason.

Who New Orleans would give up for Hield is a big question mark, but Jaxson Hayes will be entering the final year of his rookie contract and the team could also look to trade veteran wing Garrett Temple in the offseason. 

The New Orleans Pelicans will be flirting with the tax line next season, but they do have some moveable contracts on their roster and they could put together an offer that works in order to acquire Buddy Hield from the Indiana Pacers.
