Does this trade make sense for the Dallas Mavericks?
Buddy Hield would be an excellent addition to the Dallas Mavericks in the offseason and given his three-point shooting abilities, the Mavericks would have a means to begin improving offensively.
Luka Doncic can only do so much for this team and while guys like Tim Hardaway Jr., Dorian Finney-Smith, Jalen Brunson and Spencer Dinwiddie have stepped up from time-to-time, the Mavs really need some more perimeter shooting threats.
The only problem with pursuing Buddy Hield though is what was mentioned earlier with the Mavericks’ financial problem.
This trade would work for them, but the Mavericks would be taking back an extra $2 million in salaries for next season, meaning that they would most likely have to dump someone like Dwight Powell or Reggie Bullock in another trade.

Right now, with Jalen Brunson being Dallas’ number one priority, it may not be the smartest move to pursue Buddy Hield in the offseason.
Talent-wise, he is everything they need on the wing, but the Dallas Mavericks would be better off pursuing Hield midseason near the 2023 trade deadline instead.
