Does this trade make sense for the PDetroit istons?
Trading Jerami Grant is something that has been on Detroit’s mind for quite some time now, but they did not look to do so at the trade deadline because the Pistons were not getting the exact value they were looking for.
The Pistons at the very least were willing to discuss a trade centered around a lottery-protected first-round pick and a young talent, a source told NBA Analysis Network. However, Detroit was never able to find a team willing to sacrifice a high draft pick for Jerami Grant, which is why they ultimately held onto him.
The Bulls do not have much to bargain with here and while Coby White and Patrick Williams add two relatively young pieces to Detroit’s roster, the upside here is slightly limited.
Coby White is entering the final year of his rookie contract in the offseason, meaning that he could be gone after just one season in Detroit, and Patrick Williams has barely played this season due to a wrist injury that required surgery.

There are no long-term concerns with Williams’ injury, but the Pistons would be taking back a lot of unknowns in this trade for arguably their best player.
Not to mention, Detroit would be getting no draft picks in return from Chicago in this trade, making it even more unlikely that they would look to pursue a trade involving Jerami Grant with the Bulls.
