Does this trade make sense for the Chicago Bulls?
Adding Jerami Grant to a core of Zach LaVine, Nikola Vucevic, and DeMar DeRozan would be a very nice secondary addition for this team, but Grant does not want to be a secondary piece anymore.
One of the main reasons he joined the Pistons was because he saw an opportunity to become the two-way star he thought he could be and Jerami Grant has lived up to this expectation so far in his two years with Detroit.
By going to Chicago, Jerami Grant would be throwing himself back into a similar situation he held with the Nuggets, where he is nothing more than a secondary thought and will get left in the dust when it comes time for his next contract.
Entering the final year of his deal with the Pistons in the offseason, Grant is going to want to be paid for being one of the better two-way forwards in the league, which is why going to Chicago is not something that would be ideal for him.

On the flip side, the Bulls should not really want to make this trade not only because Jerami Grant would not want to be there, but because they would have to give up two key secondary contributors.
Coby White’s and Patrick Williams’ value to this team when they are at 100% is vast and with the Bulls getting Lonzo Ball, Alex Caruso, and Patrick Williams back from injury soon, we could very well see this value on the floor come time for the playoffs.
Talent-wise, this trade makes sense for the Bulls, but there are too many intangibles to bypass in order for this trade to make sense, hence why Chicago should continue rolling with what they have and surround their All-Stars with veteran bench talents in free agency.
