Explore Trade Opportunities For A Point Guard

Trading for Spencer Dinwiddie did not work for the Wizards this past offseason and as a result, this team desperately needs backcourt help. Raul Neto and Ish Smith are solid back-ups, bench options for the Wizards, but they cannot be the Wizards’ starting backcourt.

When healthy, Bradley Beal will be the primary facilitator and playmaker for the Wizards, yet they still need a secondary ball-handler and scorer to count on in their backcourt.

Kemba Walker could be an affordable trade piece for them in the offseason with his status in New York being uncertain, but the Wizards should strongly consider reaching out to the Pacers about Malcolm Brogdon.

While he has dealt with some injury concerns through the years, Malcolm Brogdon is an extremely efficient combo-guard that has done nothing but produce when he has been on the floor in Indiana this season.

In 33 games this year, Brogdon has averaged 19.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.8 assists and has shot 44.8% from the floor. In three games since returning from Achilles soreness, Malcolm Brogdon has averaged 28.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and has shot 43.1% from the floor.

Recently, Malcolm Brogdon played against the Wizards and scored 27 points on 8-17 shooting from the floor. Proving to be able to play with or without the ball in his hands, Brogdon is the perfect guard to put next to Bradley Beal and Kristaps Porzingis.

Bringing in his $22.6 million contract though could be tough for the Wizards to do, especially since they are projected to be over the salary cap already.

Trading for Brogdon could very well mean that the Wizards would have to not only give up Kentavious Caldwell-Pope but Kyle Kuzma as well, something they may not be willing to do right now given his production this season.

Overall though, the Wizards are in desperate need of a point guard and Malcolm Brogdon could solve a lot of problems for them on the offensive end of the floor.
