Coach of The Year: Monty Williams – Phoenix Suns
Coach of the Year is always a tough award to vote on because there are so many great coaches in this league deserving of such an honor. Billy Donovan and Erik Spoelstra are both deserving due to the jobs they have done this season with the Bulls and Heat, respectively, as is J.B. Bickerstaff given how well his young Cavaliers have played.
In the Western Conference, Steve Kerr with the Warriors and Taylor Jenkins with the Grizzlies are deserving of being named the Coach of the Year, but this award must go to Monty Williams this season, especially after he was snubbed of the award last season, as it was given to the Knicks’ Tom Thibodeau.
Since being named the Phoenix Suns’ head coach, Monty Williams has posted a 133-70 record and has the Suns 48-10 at the All-Star break, the best record in the NBA.
Not only are they projected to break their own franchise record for wins in a single season (62), but the Suns are one of the league’s favorites to make it back to the NBA Finals and this time, win their first title in franchise history.

Monty Williams is one of the best stories in all of professional sports and he deserves the honor of being called the Coach of the Year. His players love him, the rest of the league respects him and he has helped build the Phoenix Suns into a powerhouse that will be a contender in the Western Conference for many years to come.
Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton and Chris Paul are the guys that win the Suns games, but Monty Williams is one of the few coaches in the league that actually coaches his players and helps these young men become better on and off-the-court.
Many are deserving of this award this season, but it would be an absolute shame if Monty Williams is not voted as the recipient of the NBA’s Coach of the Year award.
