Mavericks Are Committed To Keeping Finney-Smith, Brunson Long-Term
Sending Kristaps Porzingis to the Washington Wizards means one thing for the Dallas Mavericks – that they are going to do everything they can to keep Dorian Finney-Smith and Jalen Brunson long-term.
Cap space has been a huge problem for the Mavericks over the last year or so and now that Porzingis’ contract is gone, they can begin to build around Luka Doncic moving forward.
In fact, the Mavericks already agreed to a four-year, $52 million contract extension with Dorian Finney-Smith shortly after trading Kristaps Porzingis to the Washington Wizards, first reported by Shams Charania.
The contracts of Davis Bertans and Spencer Dinwiddie are high-paying and long-term, but the Mavericks now have a really solid group of secondary talents at full-strength.

Dinwiddie, Bertans, Brunson, Finney-Smith, Kleber, Hardaway Jr. and Bullock surround Doncic now, giving the Mavericks plenty of options to take pressure off of their superstar.
Trading Kristaps Porzingis was only step one for the Dallas Mavericks. Expect them to be active in the offseason trying to bring in another high-level talent, as well as signing Jalen Brunson long-term.
