Sacramento Kings
The Kings shocked the NBA world on Tuesday when they traded for All-Star Domantas Sabonis. Now, with a high-level duo of De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis, the Sacramento Kings are going to be chasing a playoff spot to try and end a 15-year playoff drought.
The overall lack of talent on the Kings roster though could ultimately hold them back from reaching their goals this season. The status of Marvin Bagley III is in question heading into the trade deadline, as is the long-term status of Richaun Holmes.
In the offseason, Holmes and the Kings agreed to a four-year, $46.5 million extension, but Sacramento may already be having second-thoughts on this contract.
Sources have told NBA Analysis Network that multiple teams have been inquiring about Richaun Holmes’ availability leading up to the trade deadline and that the Kings have been open to negotiations surrounding Holmes.

One of the teams with rumored interest in Richaun Holmes dating back to last season and free agency is the Charlotte Hornets. Mason Plumlee has been good, but he has not been great and the Hornets really need to address their center position in order to be a real playoff threat.
Should they make a run at acquiring Holmes from the Kings, P.J. Washington will most definitely be a selling point for the Hornets.
The Kings do not necessarily need P.J. Washington given that they just acquired Domantas Sabonis and also have guys like Bagley, Len and Jones in their frontcourt, but Washington is only 23-years-old and could create a strong frontcourt combo alongside Sabonis moving forward.

Basically, the Kings’ interest in P.J. Washington comes down to whether or not the Hornets are interested in Richaun Holmes at the deadline.
Should the Hornets want to add someone like Holmes to their roster, P.J. Washington will most definitely be included in a deal to acquire him. The Kings have nothing to lose acquiring a young talent with potential like Washington, hence why they are a potential landing spot for him.
