Boston Celtics Receive: F Harrison Barnes, C Alex Len
Sacramento Kings Receive: C/F Al Horford, 2022 First-Round Pick (Lottery Protected)

This hypothetical trade was put together by Greg Swartz over at Bleacher Report. He put together a trade idea for each team in the NBA ahead of the 2022 NBA Trade Deadline. This trade was put together from the Celtics’ perspective.

The Celtics could use some reinforcements in the frontcourt and they get some help in the form of Harrison Barnes from the Sacramento Kings. This would be the second sizable deal that the Kings would be a part of as they also acquired Domantas Sabonis from the Indiana Pacers.

With Jeremy Lamb and Justin Holiday joining Sabonis in Sacramento, Barnes could be a little more expendable now given the depth they added on the wing. In addition to Barnes, the Celtics get some more frontcourt depth in Alex Len. He could prove a more useful backup come playoff time as he plays defense at a higher level than Enes Freedom.

Heading back to Sacramento is Al Horford, who would function as depth behind Sabonis and Richaun Holmes.

The Kings are also acquiring a lottery-protected first-round pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, but Boston may check-in and see if they can pull this deal off without that as the Kings seem willing to give away anyone as Tyrese Haliburton was inexplicably included in the team with the Pacers.

How does this deal impact each team? Let’s take a look at it from both of their perspectives, starting with the Celtics.
