Minnesota Timberwolves
Karl-Anthony Towns is one of the best big men in the entire league, D’Angelo Russell is a former All-Star point guard and Anthony Edwards is looking like a potential All-Star in his second NBA season. This trio in Minnesota has helped make the Minnesota Timberwolves a competitive team in the Western Conference, but they are still missing something.
Currently 18-20, the Timberwolves are not a terrible team whatsoever, but in order for them to truly take the next step as a franchise, they need to add another star-level player to their roster.
Maybe going after Ben Simmons would force them to give up D’Angelo Russell, but pairing Simmons with Towns and Edwards would be monumental for this franchise.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have seen the playoffs just once since the start of the 2004-05 season and with three former No. 1 overall picks, they would have a terrific balance of offense and defense on their roster.

While the Timberwolves have struggled offensively at times this season, Minnesota ranks 11th overall in defensive rating this season. The addition of Ben Simmons would not only push them into the Top-10 in this category, but possibly even the Top-7!
This trade would make the Minnesota Timberwolves a really strong team in the Western Conference and one that many would have a hard time stacking up against because of their size and athletic abilities.
Towns and Edwards together already cause headaches for opposing defenses because of their athleticism at their respective positions and while Simmons is not known for being much of an offensive threat, he could turn into a deadly pick-and-roll player with Edwards in Minnesota.
Maybe it is just me, but seeing the Timberwolves rise from the ashes and become relevant again in the NBA would be great for the basketball world.

The Timberwolves have the assets to be able to make this trade work, which is why we should not count Minnesota out of the running for Ben Simmons just yet.
