Worst Trade Destination No. 2: Philadelphia 76ers

The Sacramento Kings have been one of the teams most prominently mentioned when it comes to Ben Simmons’s trade rumors.

The Sacramento Kings wanted to make a splash deal and there wouldn’t be any bigger than snagging Simmons. Buddy Hield would almost assuredly be included in a deal to help match up salaries. But, this wouldn’t be an ideal landing spot for him.

76ers head coach Doc Rivers usually sticks with a pretty strict rotation of 10 players, max. Simmons isn’t currently included in that rotation, so anyone that is acquired for him will be competing for minutes and have to beat someone out.

While Hield would be a great fit as a floor spacer alongside Joel Embiid, it is fair to question where he would fit. Danny Green and Seth Curry are entrenched in the starting five. Hield wouldn’t replace Matisse Thybulle, as he is too important to the team’s defense.

Someone like Isaiah Joe could be replaceable, but he is only playing nine minutes per game. Despite his shortcomings defensively, Buddy Hield deserves a bigger role than that. It would even be difficult to unseat Furkan Korkmaz, who is having a good start to the season.

With how many good shooting guards and wings the 76ers already have, it would be difficult for Hield to carve out a consistent role on the team. His skill set is a match, but the playing time and opportunities present aren’t.
