Milwaukee Bucks: No Championship Hangover
The Milwaukee Bucks had an awesome ring ceremony before the game against the Brooklyn Nets. It wouldn’t have shocked anyone if they came out a little flat, recovering from the ceremony, but that didn’t occur.
The Bucks came out with a business as usual approach. They jumped the Nets from the opening tip. Brooklyn scored the first basket of the game to go up 2-0 and it would be the only lead they had the entire night.
Milwaukee went on a 31-10 run after that to essentially end the game before the first quarter was even over. The Bucks finished the first quarter with a 37-25 lead, asserting their dominance in the home opener.
What made the victory even better was that the Bucks were pretty short-handed. They didn’t have Bobby Portis, Donte DiVincenzo, Rodney Hood, or Semi Ojeleye. Jrue Holiday was injured in the first half of the game as well, shortening the rotation even more.

But, everyone stepped up in their places. Six players scored in double-figures, led by Giannis Antetokounmpo, who scored 32 points with 14 rebounds, seven assists, one steal, and two blocks. He even broke out a new free-throw routine and went 7-of-9 from the line.
Getting the team healthy is the No. 1 priority for the Bucks following their opening night victory. Holiday’s MRI on his heel came back clean, which is encouraging. But, it wouldn’t be a shock to see the team hold him out a few days to ensure he gets back to 100 percent.
