Golden State Warriors: New And Improved Supporting Cast
Coming into the 2021-22 season, some people felt the Golden State Warriors were being over-reliant on Klay Thompson returning to the lineup. They were unable to swing a blockbuster trade to add another star to the mix, so their offseason was overlooked.
However, the Warriors did an excellent job of improving the overall depth of the team. James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga, and Thompson were all sidelined but the team didn’t miss a beat against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Nemanja Bjelica had an excellent debut with the team, providing 15 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists off the bench. Andre Iguodala returned to the team this offseason and looked rejuvenated, scoring 12 points off the bench himself. Damion Lee scored 15, giving Golden State three bench players in double-figures.
The second unit’s performance against the Lakers was a big reason they won the game. Each player who was on the court for at least 12 minutes finished the game with a positive plus/minus.
