How This Trade Impacts Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors would likely not engage in any trade discussions that involved OG Anunoby. He is part of their core going forward and at 24-years old, he can be part of it whether they decide to rebuild and re-tool or make another run at the postseason.

Anunoby fits whatever timeline the Raptors want to be on, which makes him a player that is as close to untouchable as anyone on the roster. But, this trade could help fill some holes on the roster.

Dillon Brooks would provide Toronto with, right now, someone with a little more aggressive style offensively scoring the ball. He isn’t as efficient as Anunoby, but he showed in the postseason that he can be relied upon as a go-to scoring option.

Brooks is also a tenacious defender. He gets after it on that end of the court, taking the toughest wing assignment on a nightly basis. There is some stuff to clean up on that end of the court, as he is foul prone, but you know you will get supreme effort from him on that end of the court.

Desmond Bane is a nice addition to Toronto as well. The team could use some depth in the backcourt, specifically on the wing. Gary Trent Jr. is the only player currently on the roster listed as a shooting guard on some depth charts, so Bane would fill a need there.

He has good two-way potential with his strong, 6’4” frame. He can hold up against most wing players in the league given his strength. The former Horned Frog also has an excellent shooting stroke, knocking down 43.2 percent of his 3-point attempts as a rookie.

While it is unlikely that the Toronto Raptors would entertain trade offers for Anunoby at this time, receiving Brooks and Bane as a return package would be solid. They would lengthen the rotation and both fit any timeline that Toronto opted to go with.
