How This Trade Impacts Memphis Grizzlies
There is a lot to like about this hypothetical trade if you are the Memphis Grizzlies. Long-term, they will be saving a good amount of money acquiring OG Anunoby at this point. Anunoby has a four-year, $72 million deal that starts this season.
Whether or not you believe he is worth that amount of money, he is at least locked into it. Brooks will be a free agent in 2023 and with his current career trajectory, it would not be a surprise if he signed a deal worth more than $18 million annually, especially with the league’s salary cap expected to skyrocket with a new TV deal.
On the court, Anunoby would fit the mold of what Memphis is looking for. He is a hard-nosed, two-way player that has shown development in his offensive game every season in the NBA. He averaged a career-high 15.9 points per game last season, knocking down 39.8 percent of his 3-point attempts.
With increased opportunities offensively, as Anunoby was usually the third or fourth option with the Toronto Raptors, he could push toward 20 points per game. When you combine that with the impact that he has defensively, the Grizzlies are getting quite a high-ceiling player.

Svi Mykhailiuk would give the Grizzlies another shooter as well. 3-point shooting was a weakness for the team last season and Mykhailiuk could help in that area off the bench as a 36.2 percent shooter in his career.
Parting ways with Brooks and Desmond Bane would be tough, but Memphis would be hoping that Bane turns into the two-way player that Anunoby already is. Anunoby also has a higher ceiling than Brooks does, making this a worthwhile swap for the Memphis Grizzlies.
