Darren Collison and Isaiah Thomas making comebacks?

The Golden State Warriors’ main goal in free agency this offseason was to add veteran players with years of experience, which is why Darren Collison and Isaiah Thomas are two guys they are considering with their final roster spot. Collison has not played in the NBA since the 2018-19 season but has been looking to make an NBA comeback over the years.

Collison worked out with the Warriors in early September and after not coming away with a training camp invite, it appears that he may have to look elsewhere for a possible comeback, but Golden State could still be interested. They definitely have a need for another experienced player on their roster and could use a guy like Darren Collison in their backcourt given his experiences in this league.

As mentioned before, he has not played since the 2018-19 season, but for his career, Collision has averaged 12.5 points, 5.0 assists, 1.2 steals, and has shot 39.4% from deep. Assuming he is still a solid perimeter shooter, there is definitely a spot in this league for the now 34-year-old guard.

As for Isaiah Thomas, the Warriors are planning to host him for a workout on September 20. Earlier this offseason, Thomas worked out for the Mavericks and Lakers and the former All-Star guard has not given up hope on becoming a key player in the league once again.

LATEST NBA RUMORS: 3 Trade Targets For Golden State Warriors Entering Training Camp

From 2015-2017, Isaiah Thomas was one of the best point guards in the league and while he is only about 5’9”, this did not stop him from putting up MVP-like numbers during the 2016-17 season.

Thomas played with the New Orleans Pelicans last season on a 10-day contract, but he really did not get a chance to prove his worth to them. In 3 games with New Orleans, IT averaged 7.7 points and 1.7 assists on 33.3% shooting.

The 2x All-Star point guard should definitely earn himself another shot in this league just because of how good of a scorer and teammate he is.

Everybody who has ever played with Isaiah Thomas has nothing but great things to say about his character and personality and he is a terrific one-on-one scorer. In fact, Thomas scored 81 points during a game at “The Crawsover” Pro-Am!

As things stand on the Warriors roster right now, Stephen Curry is the only true point guard on their depth chart entering the season, as Jordan Poole and Damion Lee are both shooting guards who can handle the ball.

Bringing in another experienced point guard to be Curry’s back-up is a very smart idea for the Golden State Warriors, hence why Collison and Thomas are two possible additions ahead of training camp.
