Hanging banners and parading through the streets of Oakland is something the Golden State Warriors have been used to doing over the years, but since they moved to the Chase Center, their new arena in downtown San Francisco, the Warriors have gone 54-83 and they have missed the NBA playoffs the last two seasons.

Injuries have decimated this team’s chances to be great and they have not had Klay Thompson since the 2019 NBA Finals due to an ACL injury and then an Achilles injury.

Heading into the 2021-22 season, Golden State definitely has high expectations not only because Klay Thompson is on track to return to the court sometime in December, but because they have a really solid group of secondary talent. Andre Iguodala has returned to the Warriors roster after being traded in 2019 and the Warriors also added both Otto Porter Jr. and Nemanja Bjelica.

Along with young, key talents in Andrew Wiggins, James Wiseman, Jordan Poole, Damion Lee and others, Golden State should definitely be a force once again in the Western Conference, but they will have to remain healthy to do so.

Stephen Curry is coming off one of his best seasons in the league and a season that he finished third in the MVP voting, even though his team missed the playoffs.

Not only did Curry win the scoring title with 32.0 points per game, but he set a handful of records throughout the season and had one of the greatest months any player in NBA history has ever had when he averaged 37.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, and shot 46.6% from three-point range in April.

During these 15 games in April, Curry’s lowest-scoring performance was 18 points and he recorded thirteen 30-plus point games, including five games with 40-plus points and one game with 53 points.

Over a span of a five-game week from April 12 to April 19, the former 2x MVP averaged 44.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and shot 55.6% from the floor, 55.4% from three-point land on 46 made threes!

There are not many better scorers in this league than Stephen Curry and as long as he is healthy, the Warriors have a real chance to be a playoff contender.

Right now, Golden State has 13 players on guaranteed deals for the 2021-22 season and Damion Lee, Mychal Mulder, and Gary Payton II all have partially or non-guaranteed deals for the upcoming year.

Given his production in the second unit for the Warriors, it seems like Lee is not going anywhere, but both Mulder and Payton II could be waived before the start of the season.

Technically speaking, the Warriors still have an open roster spot, so could they look to bring in another key veteran to solidify their championship roster? Here is the latest intel surrounding some key targets for the Warriors, along with what to expect from their two lottery picks in Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody.
