Would this trade make sense for the Los Angeles Lakers?
The Los Angeles Lakers are a franchise looking to create the next great dynasty. They were walloped with injuries a season ago, which played a huge role in LeBron James’ first opening-round exit. This is something the team is looking to avoid, and they have made great strides this offseason.
Marc Gasol is not the player he once was and, at this point, does not have much of a role in Los Angeles. He started games for the Lakers at center last season, but that changed toward the end of the year.
The Lakers were quick to jump on the opportunity to sign Andre Drummond after his buyout agreement took place with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Drummond overtook the starting job, with Gasol taking a backseat.
Gasol has been a candidate for a buy-out throughout the entire offseason, and it is unknown which direction the front office will want to go. Either way, it is unlikely that Gasol is in Los Angeles next season, which was assumed at one time.

With DeAndre Jordan slotted to sign with the Lakers very soon, the trade route to move from Gasol’s guaranteed money and clear a roster spot seems to be optimal.
