Los Angeles Clippers Receive: C/F Kristaps Porzingis, G Trey Burke
Dallas Mavericks Receive: F Marcus Morris, G Luke Kennard, F/C Serge Ibaka, 2027 First Round Pick

In this NBA trade scenario, the Dallas Mavericks would part ways with Kristaps Porzingis by sending him as the centerpiece to the LA Clippers. Trey Burke would be sent along with Porzingis in this particular one.

Porzingis is regarded as a player with diminished trade value after a struggling playoff series. None of the 29 other teams in the NBA would understand this more than the Clippers, who knew how to counter the former NBA All-Star with their switch-everything defensive scheme.

The Clippers have seen both ends of the Porzingis spectrum. It felt like he almost couldn’t miss in the three games he appeared in during the two teams’ playoff series in the NBA Bubble last summer. However, he could not build on it this go around, with Nicolas Batum filling the small-ball center role.

When things are rolling for Porzingis, he raises the ceiling of an offense significantly. He is also a helpful rim protector when injuries don’t hamper his mobility. It just remains to be seen what version of Porzingis the Mavericks will have to start the season.

It could be an intriguing option for the Mavericks to land Marcus Morris Sr. as a highly efficient stretch-four who is also a shot creator in his own right and Luke Kennard can knock down three-pointers at a high clip, too. Serge Ibaka is a seasoned big man with experience in some big games in his career, who can also help fill a stretch-five role.

Let’s take a closer look and see how this NBA trade scenario centered around Kristaps Porzingis would impact the Dallas Mavericks and LA Clippers.
