Kristaps Porzingis has been one of the biggest storylines in the NBA this offseason. Nothing has happened just yet, but the Dallas Mavericks could be heading towards sending their big man away for a large return. If this happens, the Los Angeles Clippers could be the team on the receiving end.
Dallas originally brought Porzingis to town to pair with Luka Doncic and build a postseason team in the Western Conference. That has happened as the Mavericks have made the playoffs and each of the last two seasons. Both appearances ended the same way, with a first-round loss to the Clippers.
Doncic recently signed a lucrative contract extension, which means the Mavericks will continue to have one of the best players in the league moving forward. Porzingis could be a bit disgruntled with his role next to Doncic and request a trade.
While Porzinigs’ dissatisfaction with his role is a key element of the trade rumors spreading around the NBA, both he and the Mavericks appear ready to turn the next page with Jason Kidd now as the head coach. However, if things do not work out, Dallas could look to send Porzingis elsewhere.
