Does this trade make sense for the Washington Wizards?

If Bradley Beal wants to be traded, then this trade absolutely makes sense for the Washington Wizards, but they really have no need to trade Beal right now. He has remained loyal to this organization and Beal has made his intentions of winning in Washington clear, so trading him away would not help the Wizards in any way.

For the first-time in his career this past year, Bradley Beal was named to the All-NBA Third Team and he has been named an All-Star three of the last four years, so why would Washington want to get rid of him? Their only chance to do something this year revolves around Beal and him staying on the court, so trading him away for a bunch of young players really does not make sense for Washington unless the superstar guard wants out.

Personally, I do not view the Wizards as a better team than they were last season and I do believe that Beal will be on the move at some point over the next couple of seasons, but their roster is definitely improved from where they were last year.

Spencer Dinwiddie, Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Aaron Holiday are all guys who can come in and contribute immediately, but the biggest thing they all bring to the Washington Wizards is depth. Last year, Washington had nearly no depth and reliable players outside of their starting unit and now, they may finally have those pieces in place after trading Westbrook.

Maybe this team will be better during the 2021-22 season and as a result, give Beal more of an incentive to remain in his current situation, but ultimately, the only real reason Bradley Beal has not requested a trade yet is because he is up for a mega contract extension soon. If he remains in Washington through this upcoming season, Beal will be eligible for a five-year, $235M deal that would pay him roughly $47M annually.

That is a ton of money to decline and opt to go somewhere else, which is why I could definitely see Beal being the main guy on the trade market next offseason after inking this mega contract extension. Washington just is not an organization that is going to turn themselves into a championship contender and if Bradley Beal wants to maximize on his opportunities to potentially win a championship, he will request a trade somewhere else.

Golden State definitely has the assets that Washington would want in a Beal trade, which is why this trade could ultimately make sense for them, but as things stand right now, there is no reason that they should be wanting to give up their best player.
