Does this trade make sense for the Golden State Warriors?
Trading for Bradley Beal definitely is advantageous to the Golden State Warriors and gives them yet another All-NBA-like performer on offense, but this trade would really hurt the Warriors defensively and in terms of building for the future. Wiggins, Wiseman and Kuminga all have potential to be great defenders in their own rights and adding Beal at the expense of Wiggins on the wing really puts a dent in Golden State’s perimeter defense.
They did bring back Andre Iguodala and add Otto Porter Jr. in free agency this offseason, but overall, the Warriors are going to need Andrew Wiggins if they are to contend for another championship during the 2021-22 season. He is very similar to Harrison Barnes and the Warriors are utilizing him a lot like they did with Barnes during their 2015 championship run, which is why Andrew Wiggins is important to this team.
Being able to add Bradley Beal would be a “home-run-like” move for the Warriors, but the cost really does seem too high. By making this trade, the Warriors would still have some depth on their bench with Iguodala, Looney, Lee, Porter Jr. and Poole, but teams would be able to take advantage of them in terms of scoring.
Golden State would have to play small with Curry, Thompson, Beal, Iguodala/Porter Jr. and Green all on the court together at the same time and on the interior, the Warriors would have no rim-protectors since they would no longer have Wiseman.

There are definitely pros to trading for Bradley Beal from the Warriors perspective, but overall, the cons outweigh the pros in this situation. The Warriors roster is constructed to both win now and continue building for the future, so they really should not look to sacrifice their assets.
