Does this trade make sense for the Cleveland Cavaliers?
The Cleveland Cavaliers have done all they could to get solid big men in the building to stick around long term. This has completely changed the notion that they were solid only in the backcourt. When looking at the current situation with Collin Sexton, they would benefit from a trade.
If there is any issue in the locker room or the relationship between the two sides, Cleveland could get a large return. Sexton took his offensive game to another level but was not very passive.
The Cavaliers will be able to gain a few assets that could help them and other deals moving forward. Cleveland is still years away from competing and sending Sexton away would take one player who is due to get paid away.
Darius Garland and Isaac Okoro would still be in the backcourt for the Cavaliers. This is a good balance along with Mobley and Allen. That is the core to build around moving forward for the Cavaliers. Adding Nickeil Alexander-Walker into the mix along with a future first would help.

It’s rather simple, if the Cavaliers do not want to be the team to pay Sexton his extension and also want to get a deal done before the deadline to get an agreement done, moving him to a team like the Pelicans who missed out on top targets makes a lot of sense.
