New Orleans Pelicans Receive: G Collin Sexton
Cleveland Cavaliers Receive: G Nickeil Alexander-Walker, 2023 first-round pick
There were some rumors circulating around the NBA of the locker room being a bit uneasy in Cleveland with the amount of shots that Sexton takes throughout games. He was a strong offensive player for the Cavaliers but his game was a bit demanding.
Sexton would be the lone player going to the Pelicans here and would have to defer a bit in certain situations. New Orleans sought to bring in Kyle Lowry but came up short. The goal here would be to bring Devonte’ Graham off-the-bench with Sexton starting.
Coming away with Graham as a starting option would require both Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson to apply a lot of rim pressure on the defense. There needs to be another talent, preferably at the point guard position, who can shoulder some of that load.
The Cavaliers might not have much leverage when it comes to the Sexton situation. They would receive Nickeil Alexander-Walker along with a 2023 first-round pick (top 10 protected).

The Pelicans are high on Alexander-Walker so moving him in a trade scenario would need to be for a talent that moves the needle a bit. While Sexton is not an elite point guard, he is still coming off an efficient season that featured posting an average of 24.3 points and 4.4 assists.
Let’s take a closer look and see how this NBA trade scenario centered around Collin Sexton would benefit both the Cleveland Cavaliers and New Orleans Pelicans.
