Charlotte Hornets

The first team that comes to mind when talking about Richaun Holmes’ upcoming free agency is the Charlotte Hornets. With Cody Zeller being a free agent this offseason as well and the fact that Charlotte has roughly $30M in cap space to play around with, this fit with Richaun Holmes makes perfect sense.

They need a big man who can not only control the boards, but create second-chance opportunities for their offense. Charlotte was one of the best offensive-rebounding teams in the entire league this past season given all of their athletic players and the addition of Holmes could make them the best offensive-rebounding team.

Not to mention, he is a guy that fits their “timeline” perfectly. The average age of players under contract for the Hornets entering next season is 23.8-years-old, which is why Holmes being 27-years-old makes perfect sense for them in this category.

The Hornets do have Devonte’ Graham, Malik Monk and Cody Zeller, as mentioned before, as free agents this offseason, so they will definitely have their hands full in trying to retain some of their young talents, but they need to make a play for a valuable big man.

Richaun Holmes can join this team and immediately make an impact on both ends of the floor, which is why he is worth the investment for them. Charlotte could look to target a big man in the NBA Draft with the 11th overall pick, but at the end of the day, they are not going to find a guy that can contribute right away and make them a playoff team like Holmes can.

The Hornets will definitely be the main team to watch in terms of signing Richaun Holmes this offseason, but they could potentially look to target other guys as well. Sources have told NBA Analysis Network that Daniel Theis, Montrezl Harrell, Andre Drummond and Hassan Whiteside are all potential targets for the Hornets this offseason in the event that they are unable to sign Richaun Holmes.
