Does this trade make sense for the Miami Heat?
Pat Riley has never been one to shy away from making a blockbuster move in hopes it can push his team in position to compete for a title.
Yes, by trading three first-round picks, the Miami Heat would have just four draft picks to their name through the 2028 season. But if it results in them getting multiple shots at a championship, then it’s tough to believe that Riley wouldn’t move forward with the trade.
Of course, the Heat would need the Trail Blazers to be content with what they are getting in return for Lillard. In the scenario they like Miami’s offer more than others — which is highly improbable — then the Heat would be forming one of the best trios in the league.
You don’t get many opportunities to add a player of Lillard’s caliber via trade and Miami would be remiss to not try and lure Lillard to South Beach.

Even in an Eastern Conference that has a couple of powerhouse teams, it’s be hard to say that the Heat aren’t legitimate threats to win a championship if they were able to finalize this trade.
