Does this trade make sense for the Portland Trail Blazers?
In the event that Damian Lillard requests a trade, the Portland Trail Blazers would likely be headed toward a rebuild. While the Portland Trail Blazers could get a fruitful return for Lillard, would it be enough to keep them competitive upon his departure?
Likely not, but there’s no reason that Portland shouldn’t be seeking the best package they can possibly get for Lillard if their hands are tied. Provided that, the Trail Blazers should have no incentive in doing this trade with the Heat this offseason.
Even though Herro has shown promise as a versatile scorer, Nunn is far from consistent and isn’t someone you’d want operating as your starting point guard long-term.
Achiuwa had a quiet rookie campaign this season and it remains to be seen what his potential role is in the NBA. The three future first-round picks would help Portland’s rebuild, but they’d probably prefer the picks to be in the immediate future.
