The Chance To Win A Ring
At the end of the day, the ultimate goal for Chris Paul is to win that elusive NBA Championship. He has accomplished so much in his career and is one of the most decorated point guards in the history of the game, but that championship has remained elusive.
Joining the Lakers would provide him that chance to win a championship. Yes, the Phoenix Suns just went to the NBA Finals themselves, but it is a legitimate question for him to ask himself; do I have a better chance of returning to the finals with the Suns again or playing alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis?
There are certainly positives to returning to Phoenix and running it back. The experience gained this season was plentiful and the roster is deep. There is a ton of young talent that should only get better next season. But, the Suns do not have LeBron James.
If you are going to bet on a single player to carry a team to the Finals in the league, it is James. The fluky ankle injury is the only thing that slowed James down this season, as his offensive efficiency actually improved this season from the championship-winning regular season.

Pairing up with LeBron James and Anthony Davis would give the Lakers a legitimate Big 3 and likely be the favorites heading into the season to come out of the Western Conference.
