Buddy Hield’s Offensive Ability
For anyone that watched the New York Knicks’ first round series against the Atlanta Hawks it was painstakingly obvious that they needed some more scoring punch. Hield would be able to provide just that.
His floor-spacing would open things up for RJ Barrett and Julius Randle to operate in the middle of the court. Hield has made 40.6 percent of his 3-pointers in his career. His mark from the 2020-21 season of 39.1 was tied with Damian Lillard but is Hield’s career-low mark for a season.
Having that kind of sharpshooting would open things up for the sometimes offensively challenged Knicks. His presence alone will divert attention away from RJ Barrett and Julius Randle.
While he has been labeled as a shooter and not much else, Hield has also shown that he can be the go-to option and he is an improved playmaker. That will help if the Knicks are unable to land a playmaking point guard, as Barrett and Randle are also capable of initiating the offense.

When De’Aaron Fox went down at the end of the season, Hield put the Sacramento Kings on his back as the lead playmaker and go-to scorer. He would be an excellent addition to a Knicks roster looking for more offensive punch.
