Knicks Have What Kings Want
Last offseason there were rumors around the NBA that the New York Knicks and Sacramento Kings were discussing a trade centered on Buddy Hield and Julius Randle.
That deal will no longer be on the table, as Randle had an incredible 2020-21 season, winning the Most Improved Player of the Year award. But, a deal can still be worked out.
Sacramento is looking to slash some salary from its payroll and add more draft capital. The Knicks can easily fulfill those wishes, as they have extra first round picks courtesy of the Dallas Mavericks trade involving Kristaps Porzingis.
The draft capital can be adjusted depending on which players the Kings ask for. If they insist on acquiring Obi Toppin, the Knicks may only offer second round picks of a single first rounder. If Kevin Knox is going back, New York may be more inclined to add a second first rounder to sweeten the pot.

With all the cap space the Knicks have, they do not have to send much salary back to the Kings to make a deal work. That is what the Sacramento Kings are hoping to accomplish as they could move on with De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton as their backcourt with some more spending money available.
