Toronto Raptors

Is there a chance that DeMar DeRozan makes a return to the Toronto Raptors this summer? DeRozan would certainly fit in Toronto and Raptors fans would welcome him back with open arms.

But do the Raptors believe DeRozan is worth targeting if Kyle Lowry is expected to walk in NBA free agency? Or does the team target DeRozan in hopes it convinces Lowry to stay? Either way, Toronto is an interesting team that could pursue DeRozan this offseason.

With the No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, the Raptors have an opportunity to select a player they can develop for the future. And even if Lowry walks, Toronto has a formidable group in Fred VanVleet, OG Anunoby, Pascal Siakam, and Chris Boucher.

While DeRozan could create a crowded front court, his ability to handle the ball and create for others would be beneficial to the Raptors. Though, his lack of efficient shooting is what could make Toronto hesitate on a reunion.

If the Raptors do end up playing this offseason well, it could be a truly quick turnaround for a rebuild. DeRozan would be able to bring a needed wing scoring presence on a team that already has real talent. He’d essentially fill the Kawhi Leonard role to a lesser degree.
