Portland Trail Blazers
The Portland Trail Blazers are undergoing organizational changes this offseason following the firing of Terry Stotts. Chauncey Billups is expected to be announced as his replacement, turning the team’s attention to the roster. Defense will be a priority, but could adding another dynamic scorer be on the table?
There are recent reports suggesting that Damian Lillard could request a trade from the Trail Blazers. Whether a trade comes into fruition or not, DeMar DeRozan could be a building block for Portland moving forward.
For quite some time, the Trail Blazers have been searching to find a wing player that can excel on offense consistently. They have mostly tried ‘3-and-D’ options but haven’t had a talent like DeRozan that can get the job done in a variety of key ways.
Even though Carmelo Anthony and Robert Covington have done well in spurts, DeRozan would bring more consistency to the front court. It would be an intriguing way to perhaps convince Lillard that winning now is the top priority. Otherwise, he could fill a key role after a Lillard trade.
