Full strength or not, Kevin Durant is going to be the best player on the floor
Before he injured his Achilles in the 2019 NBA Finals, Kevin Durant was arguably the best player in the NBA given all that he was doing for the Warriors. There was virtually no stopping him and while his injury kept him out an entire year, Durant still looks like that same dominant player when he is on the court.
While he only played 28 minutes against the Phoenix Suns, Kevin Durant finished with 33 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Durant also went 7-8 from the free-throw line and knocked down two of three shots from the three-point line.
All-in-all, when Durant is out there on the court for the Nets, of course their offense is better, but they seem virtually unguardable. The Suns are one of the best defensive teams in the NBA, yet they were still scrambling on the defensive-side of things to try and catch up to the ball.

When the Nets get in a zone offensively and they have their stars in Durant, Irving or Harden controlling the pace of the game, there is almost an “All-Star Game” type of feel to the way their system works. They are always willing to make the extra passes and no matter where the ball goes, it always somehow ends up in either Durant’s or Irving’s hands.
Irving may have had a game-high 34 points, but Kevin Durant was the most dominant player on the court against the Phoenix Suns and this is going to be the narrative moving forward. There are very few players in this NBA that can match up with Durant and as a result, he is going to continue being the best player on the floor as long as he can remain healthy.
