Why This Trade Would Benefit The New York Knicks
It has been years upon years since the New York Knicks have had a viable option at the point guard position. This is a reason that they are unable to compete in any definition of the word in the Eastern Conference. They have become a laughing stock in the league and are attempting to turn it around. Thibodeau is the coach to do so and now it is time to get the right players on the team.
Derrick Rose is not a long-term answer at point guard and is not the option that would turn the franchise around. He is a strong scorer with plenty left in the tank that would be able to serve as a mentor for the younger players.
With a rookie like Immanuel Quickley on the roster, Rose would help out the youngster in many ways. He would also be able to provide some much-needed minutes at the position. New York will have some decisions to make at the deadline and it will be interesting to see what the front office decides to do.
The Knicks have had names like Julius Randle and Dennis Smith Jr. float around a trade along with Knox. There are plenty of options for the front office in New York to choose from. It is important that they make the right one, something that they have not done often in the past.
