Kevin Durant Is Not Talked About Enough As MVP Candidate

It is really great to see Kevin Durant healthy and back on the court after his Achilles injury he suffered in the 2019 NBA Finals. So far this season, it looks like Durant has not missed a beat and while nobody has really discussed it, he is very much in the discussion for the MVP award early on in the season.

Through his first 10 games with the Brooklyn Nets, Durant averaged 30.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 5.7 assists and shot 54.8% from the floor, 48.3% from three-point range. He has scored over 22 points in every single game this season, including four 30+ point games.

Everything Durant does on the basketball court, he makes it look so effortless and easy. Not only is he one of the most dominant scorers in the NBA today, but he is one of the best scorers in NBA history, period.

Kevin Durant is a 10x All-Star, a 4x NBA Scoring Champion, a 2x Finals MVP and was the 2013-14 NBA MVP. He knows what it takes to win championships and sacrifice for the better good of the team, which is exactly why he has a legit chance to win the MVP award this year.

When Durant made the move and went to Golden State, he shocked the NBA world by teaming up with 3 All-Stars in Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. A lot of people wondered how things would turn out in Golden State with that much talent playing together and as a result of Durant sacrificing some personal achievement, he was able to help lead the Warriors to two championships, ultimately earning Finals MVP in both of those championship runs.

He is in a very similar position now in Brooklyn with two big time superstars in James Harden and Kyrie Irving and will handle the situation the same way he did with Steph and Klay in the Bay Area. While those two guys were definitely less selfish players than Kyrie and Harden, the same rules apply for KD and he will have to be the leader of this team if they are to win a championship.

KD Knows what it takes to not only win a championship, but what it takes to be the MVP of the league and with him looking better than he did before his Achilles injury, there is no reason why he should not be in the conversation for the MVP Award so far this year.
